Temple Emanu-El is a Reform Jewish congregation inIrondequoit, New York. The design goals of the new logo
are to represent the Temple as an open, inviting, and
spiritually uplifting experience. The rounded form for
the letter "E" is reminiscent of the letter forms created
by scribes with ink on parchment. This reference to history
combines knowledge of the past with the experience of today.
The symbol is a reference to the "Tree of Life" as well as
the seven branches of a menorah.
